I didn’t step into this work because I wanted a job. I stepped into it because I saw a need and felt a calling.

Over the years, I’ve walked alongside families who were exhausted, overwhelmed, and doing everything they could to protect and support the people they love. Parents navigating unfamiliar systems. Caregivers carrying responsibilities that never turn off. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who wanted greater independence but did not always have the access, opportunity, or support to pursue it.

What I saw was a need for community, stability, and someone who truly cared.

Independence begins with dignity

I believe people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve meaningful lives filled with dignity, purpose, belonging, and opportunity. They deserve to be seen as whole people, with their own preferences, strengths, and goals.

This is why I became an independent provider: to walk alongside people as they build independence in their homes, routines, communities, and lives.

For me, community assistance is partnership, presence, consistency, and trust.

Progress happens in everyday moments

Independence looks different for each person. It might mean taking a more active role in a daily routine, making a choice, practicing a life skill, or participating in a community activity that matters to them.

A useful starting point is to choose one meaningful goal together, break it into manageable steps, and notice what support helps. Celebrate progress without overlooking the person’s voice or rushing their pace.

Families deserve support that respects what they know about their loved one. Individuals deserve opportunities to make decisions and shape their own future.

When families work with me through JML Independent Solutions, they are connecting with someone who believes independence is built over time, dignity is non-negotiable, and community should include everyone.

This work matters to me because people matter to me—as human beings with value, purpose, and potential. That is the heart behind JML, and the heart I bring to every family I serve.
